Benge is the artist name of Ben Edwards, a musician and producer from the UK. The main focus of his work is within the experimental electronic music field. His Memetune Studio complex (now located in an idyllic and remote part of Cornwall) is home to his vast collection of vintage synthesisers, drum machines and recording equipment. It is here that he collaborates on album work with some of the leading pioneers of electronic music. He has co-written and produced albums with John Foxx (Ultravox), Stephen Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire), Neil Arthur (Blancmange), as well as some of the most exciting and critically acclaimed new artists in the field, such as Gazelle Twin, Hannah Peel, Lone Taxidermist and most recently John Grant.
His 2008’s synth-extravaganza “Twenty Systems” has been described by Brian Eno as ‘A brilliant contribution to the archaeology of electronic music’.
